The Box is an upcoming horror film based on the 1970 short story “Button, Button” by author Richard Matheson.
The film is written and directed by Richard Kelly and stars Cameron Diaz and James Marsden as a couple who receive a box with a mysterious power.
Production began on November 2007 and concluded in February 2008. The film is scheduled for release on October 30, 2009.
Premise: The plot is set in Richmond, Virginia in the year 1976. An unhappily married couple (Diaz and Marsden) receive a box from a mysterious stranger (Langella), who tells them that pushing a button on the box will award them with a large monetary sum, and simultaneously, someone the couple does not know will die.
